Our new development programme

In the south west today, where house prices in many instances are at levels 10-14 times that of average salaries, there is a significant need for new build, shared ownership and rental properties. DCH recognises this and has an ongoing development programme to increase the number of homes we deliver. We are currently one of the largest providers of new homes in the south west with a development programme designed to meet the housing need across the region.

During financial year 2014/15 we developed 563 new rented and shared ownership homes, an increase of 30% on our previous year. Sales of open market homes have also continued to contribute significantly to our work, helping us cross-subsidise the delivery of more affordable homes as well as contributing to demand for new homes to purchase; during the year we provided 76 open market homes. Any profit generated from the sale of open market homes is re-invested to support the delivery of more affordable homes.

Delivering a total of 639 new homes across the region last year means that DCH delivered 2.5 new homes for every working day of the year.

As one of the largest providers of new homes in the south west our development activities create and support jobs within the construction industry and our new housing schemes contribute towards meeting housing need and sustaining local communities.

We are fully committed to meeting housing demand within the region and will continue to explore and develop a range of housing options in response to the ever changing needs of our customers.
