We were pleased to have provided funding for one of our customers, Carly Green who recently took part in an exciting politics and history trip in London, with her classmates from Torquay Girls’ Grammar School.

Carly realised taking part in this trip would significantly improve her chance of being accepted onto a politics degree course. When her parents and grandparents were unable to afford the full cost of the trip, Carly applied for a DCH grant. We happily provided £121 to cover the costs of her accommodation and travel.

Carly Green said: ‘’This was an invaluable trip. It was incredible to have access to the corridors of Westminster. I was allowed insight into the workings of modern day Parliament and its history. I also had a chance to listen to lectures from the historians who have so much input into my history textbooks. As both a politics and history student, I can say that this experience was incredibly worthwhile. I am so grateful to DCH who provided me with this grant, enabling me to take part.’’

Lesley Brown, Community Development Worker said: ‘’It's great being able to support young people to take part in activities which help them to develop their skills, confidence and future employment prospects.”
