Over the last 18 months, we have embarked on an ambitious apprenticeship recruitment drive and are paying one of the highest apprenticeship salaries in the UK, starting at £10,000 for a Level 2, £12,000 for a Level 3 and £15,000 for a Level 4.

Since Sept 2015 we have welcomed 17 apprentices across the business in positions ranging from IT, Finance, Trades, Sales, Lettings, Surveying, Customer Services and Business Systems, with new opportunities still to come.

Suzanne Hourahine, People Development Manager said: “We recognise the huge benefits apprentices bring to any organisation, as well as the need to support local communities and the economy with enhanced employment prospects. With the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy from May 2017, it will be interesting to see how employers plan to change the way in which they invest in apprenticeships and get value out of their Levy investment. There will be big changes over the next 12 months, and it will be exciting to see how this alters the landscape of apprenticeship investment.”

Here's what Laura Memmott, our Apprentice Finance Assistant had to say about her experience as a DCH apprentice.

“I finished my Association of Accounting Technician's Level 2 qualification and have now started Level 3, amazingly I was offered a promotion before my apprenticeship was even finished! Since starting my apprenticeship, my personal skills and confidence have really developed, I wasn’t confident before, for example, I didn’t like standing up in front of people talking, which is completely different now! I have also developed finance skills I didn’t have before. The advantage of working at DCH is that I now have knowledge of three important areas of finance; this would be difficult to find working for a small finance firm. I can see so many development opportunities in the future which are really exciting! My apprenticeship and study plan course have also brought to life the subjects that I am studying in college. DCH has been amazing from the start. They have helped me so much, and continue to help me develop. I like that an apprenticeship provides you with an income while you learn, which is great for young people. It gives you real life work experience and a massive support network. Apprenticeships are great and I would recommend them to anyone, any day!''
