Recognising the contribution of our involved residents - Bob and Joyce take it easy after 20 years!
Launceston residents, Mr and Mrs Bob and Joyce Sleeman, are retiring from duties having been dependable resident representatives for Penwith Housing Association and Devon & Cornwall Housing group for many years. They first started attending meetings back in 1991 so have been representing the views of other residents for 20 years.
To thank them for their hard work and valuable contributions over the past two decades, they were presented with a crystal vase and a bouquet by Andy Moore, Chief Executive and Carol Bosworth, PHA Board Member.

Bob said: “An association roadshow we attended 20 years ago in Lostwithiel resulted in us joining the Tenants Advisory Panel. I enjoyed getting involved so much that I became the first tenant board member.”
Joyce added: “We will miss everything about being involved with the association and getting to know tenants throughout Devon and Cornwall. We particularly enjoyed judging the garden competitions.”
They have been actively involved on many committees including the Regional Committee, the East Area Liasion Panel, Active Community Tenants Network and more recently in PHA’s resident committee’s Media Group. Bob continued: “We saw the benefit of getting opinions from other tenants and hope that others will carry on the good work and come forward to get involved with the association.”
Andy Moore, Chief Executive of PHA said: “Bob and Joyce have both been stalwarts of resident involvement in the Devon and Cornwall Housing group working many hours on committees and panels to ensure that the views of residents were heard and acted upon. We are very grateful for the time and effort they have put in which has made a real difference to residents.”
