Court flowers award
Hanging baskets, floral boxes and tubs have brought colour and beauty to the entrance area of a group of 12 flats at Launceston. So much so that Station Court has won the ‘best communal garden’ category in the annual competition held by Penwith Housing Association (PHA), part of Devon & Cornwall Housing group.

Receiving the certificate and voucher prize on behalf of Station Court was Roz Dymond, 53, who is disabled and leads the local efforts. “I absolutely love it” she said. “The joy of the flowers has kept me going during my recent illness and helped me get over it. I rarely go out socially but caring for these has been a great help.”
Her neighbours assisted with lifting them into place around the area after she had planted them out. There are flower boxes along the long wall at the front of Station Court, twelve hanging baskets at the entrance to the flats and nine long tubs in the car park area.
They include such bright blooms, large and small, such as lobelia, begonia, nasturtium and surfinia.“They make a lovely splash of colour when we sit outside on the bench. It really makes a big difference” said Roz who has been a member of PHA’s Peninsula Tenants’ Committee for the past 18 months.
