We are pleased to announce the start of an important new partnership between Devon & Cornwall Housing, Tor Homes and West Devon Homes.
West Devon Homes is a housing association based in Tavistock, managing around 1,500 homes. West Devon Homes originally transferred from the local council at the same time as our subsidiary Tor Homes. There is more information on their website here.
West Devon Homes have been looking at their strategic options for the coming years, and how they can continue developing and improving their business. They have decided that the best way forward is to stay independent while creating a partnership for shared services with Devon & Cornwall Housing group. This will benefit the tenants of both organisations.
West Devon Homes will remain an independent company. It will still be the landlord of its current homes, and will still be responsible to its tenants for providing high-quality services.
The key principles of our partnership are:
- improving quality and standards of homes and services for all customers
- achieving value for money and delivering efficiency savings for both organisations.
As mentioned in our stakeholder newsletter, DCH news, we have been consulting with specific stakeholders and with all group residents on further strengthening our structure by holding all assets in the group parent, while still delivering services through our strong local brands of PHA and Tor Homes. It will be our local brand of Tor Homes that will be the key partner with West Devon Homes.
Working together, we will maximise the efficiency that can be delivered through shared services. This will include pooling our resources to deliver high-quality front-line housing services to all customers and homes in the north-western part of Devon. We have a shared aim to improve standards and to develop services which meet the needs of local people and communities.
Tor Homes and West Devon Homes will be consulting and communicating with residents and stakeholders on the partnership over the coming months.
As part of our work on the partnership, we have developed a joint vision statement, attached below.
