Residents will be excited to hear that the next modern new affordable housing development is underway in Plymouth at Kinterbury Square.
The foundations have been laid with a little help from Plymouth City Councillor, Peter Brookshaw, who enjoyed laying a foundation stone that will stand the test of time.
The latest development from Devon & Cornwall Housing in Barne Barton will provide 107 two, three and four bedroom homes. There will be a mix of houses for sale, shared-ownership, and for rent. The first 21 homes will be completed in spring 2011 with the remainder completed a year later.
The development brings much needed accommodation to the Barne Barton area.
Matt Ward, Devon & Cornwall Housing’s Business Development Manager said: "Everyone involved has worked incredibly hard to get this development off the ground. When the homes are completed priority will be given to Plymouth residents affected by the demolition of their homes, existing tenants from Barne Barton and people with a local connection. We hope that residents will join in with the existing strong community spirit".
Councillor & Cabinet Member for Community Services, Peter Brookshaw, said: "We are confident the benefits of these schemes will ripple out to the wider community, not just the families who will make their homes here.
"Plymouth City Council is firmly committed to making this area and this city a better place to be with more good quality homes and a greater mix of housing to meet the needs of all the people who live here. We also want to create places where people choose to live and these schemes are playing a part in that vision".
