Tor Homes joins our group

Offering more local services and more affordable homes

Tor Homes residents newsletterThe Housing Corporation has now given its seal of approval to Tor Homes joining Devon & Cornwall Housing group.

Tor Homes joins us as equal partners with Devon & Cornwall Housing Association (DCHA) and Penwith Housing Association (PHA), each as subsidiaries of Devon & Cornwall Housing Trust.

This is great news for customers of DCHA, PHA and Tor Homes. With 16,000 homes, 700 staff, home improvement agencies across the area and an annual turnover of £66m our new group has significant regional influence. At the same time, our local roots firmly embed us within Cornwall and Devon.

Bob Hatfield, chair of the Tor Homes board said "This new group structure will really benefit local people and communities, with more local services and more affordable homes. Tor Homes continues to be led by its own board, including representatives of our residents, and we also benefit from the strengths of a locally-focussed and like-minded housing group".

Welcoming Tor Homes to the group, the chair of Devon & Cornwall Housing Trust, Helen Riley-Humfrey, added "As we have developed our partnership, it has become clearer and clearer what a good match there is between our strengths and skills.

In particular we are looking forward to Tor Homes gradually expanding their direct maintenance team and other services across the group".

Now that we have achieved Housing Corporation approval, we have only to await formal approval from the Charity Commission – in the meantime we will be working as the new group so that we can really hit the ground running and deliver our improvements and savings from day one.
